The second instalment of the Support Local Series is full of outfit inspiration beyond pyjamas, trackpants and gym gear. Each outfit will keep you looking polished as well as comfortable during your time in isolation or working from home, it’s all about bring that street style to the home (home style, new trend for 2020?)
Of course this blog being about supporting local includes not only outfit inspiration but also where to get the look from local businesses. The best news? All pieces featured are under $250, with many of the stores listed below offering further discounts when you shop online (see discounts at the bottom of the page), perfect for those that need a retail therapy boost but are on a strict budget.
Technically you could rock with look with your nightgown but as a stylist and for your own mental health & productivity I highly encourage you actually get changed & maintain a normal morning routine. That being said is there anything comfier than a slip dress. To keep it work appropriate dd an oversized blazer. Why oversized? It automatically gives the outfit polish yet a sense of ease, pretty much the kind of look you want to achieve when working from home. Plus the oversized fit means less restriction when typing on a computer all day (just push the sleeve up to keep from looking swamped).
Pssst… if a blazer isn’t a natural oversized fit buy 1 or 2 sizes above your normal size to achieve the same look.

Who says graphic tees can’t be work appropriate? It’s a great way to add personality and intrigue to any outfit. When comfort is key to working at home a slim fitting (not skin tight) or slight a line skirt is a great option when you don’t want to wear track pants for the fourth day in a row. A midi skirt length is also more appropriate when sitting down all day. Got a Zoom or Skype call? Add a blazer (like the options above) for extra polish.

Lastly if you don’t have the means to support local by purchasing it’s completely understandable at a time like this. Why not engage with local boutiques, labels & brands via social media? Or share their posts, you never know what your reach could do to positively impact someone. Knowing we are all in this together can be powerful in feeling less isolated and reducing anxiety.
